Our Origin Story
Logan and Maddy here! We wanted to share the origin story for our love of photography and how it brought us together, leading us to today: Weisz Photography. But first, we both have our own story of how we started taking photos that we’d like to share with you.
Logan Weisz:
Growing up my grandfather was always running around with a camera taking photos and even making videos for us grandkids. Naturally I wanted to follow in his foot steps and see why he did it. I received my first camera as a freshman in high school and immediately fell in love with photography. My friends and I would go out skating and I would try photographing everything hoping to one day have my photo on the front of thrasher magazine (sorry but that still hasn't happened...) Later in high school I discovered film photography and that is where my passion grew even deeper. I learned how to develop and scan my own film and that alone gave me even more respect to photography. I learned about street photography and ran around the streets of San Francisco trying to be the next big thing. I dabbled in other types of photography like automotive, landscapes and portraits. I truly just enjoy capturing everyday life and being able to show people that. I have recently discovered a type of photography I have never shot before, so wish me luck and stay tuned to see what it is!
Maddy Weisz:
I was gifted my first camera in high school (2018), a Canon Rebel T5 (funny how Logan had the same first camera). I quickly was drawn to portrait photography. Growing up, my sister was a model for magazines like Pottery Barn and was even on the Downy laundry detergent bottle for a few years. So naturally, she was the model for most of my photos. I loved taking photos of people and capturing beauty, both inside and out. I took photos for people amongst my high school and friend groups, learning the different types of portrait photography out there: family, couple, engagement, etc. To this day, I love all of them and continue to learn new things behind the camera.
How our passions collided:
We both attended the same high school and somehow never crossed paths up until the last month of senior year. Maddy's sister introduced us and after that, we learned about our shared passion for photography. It all started with late nights in Davis, California taking pictures of Maddy's sister. Maddy was able to share her insight on portrait photography while Logan was able to share his expertise on street photography. We learned so much from each other and learned a ton about each other during that time....leading us to fall in love. Our love story began with our first date trip to Point Reyes Beach, where we woke up at the crack of dawn to watch the sunrise. We got great photos, but almost died in the process (don't recommend). Long story short, don't climb up cliffs just to get the shot. By the second or third date, Maddy decided to inform Logan that she was going to move to Reno, Nevada for college. Jokingly, she asked if he might go with her and he said yes! Off we went to Reno, bringing our cameras with us and making memories in this new city. Since then, we have been in the Reno-Tahoe area and are ready to take on new clients and help you capture your story!
