Ramseur Maternity Session

Happy Sunday y’all! Maddy and Logan here, we would love to tell you guys about one of the most precious and heart-warming sessions we’ve had. We had our first maternity session with a beautiful family.

They are a family of three, about to be a family of four with baby girl arriving so soon! Bella and Caleb are already the sweetest parents and we are so grateful they chose us to capture this special time in their family’s life. Bella is an early childhood educator and Caleb is pursuing a career in football. They have a two-year old daughter, Yamayah, who is full of personality and so ready to meet her baby sister!

We had a very early morning session at Rancho San Rafael park in Reno, Nevada which wasn’t Yamayah’s favorite thing…..she still needed a little time to wake up, but once she was up she was so comfortable in front of the camera! We started off on the grassy field in front of the hills to get some movement and candid shots of the family. Here is one of our favorite shots from this location:

For this next location, we wandered towards the Wilbur D. May Arboretum inside of the park to get some shots with nice greenery and flowers. Bella had her heart set on photos with lots of greenery and natural elements so we thought this was the perfect place to bring their vision to life! They did a quick outfit change and we wanted to make sure to get some mother-daughter shots of Yamayah and Bella. Bella mentioned that these pictures were going to be part of their daughter’s childhood picture album, something that Yamayah would have to help her remember these moments with her family as she grows older…how precious is that! Here is one of their photos together:

The yellow flowers that you see in the picture above stayed with us for a good portion of the session, Yamayah insisted on keeping them with her! She wanted to put them in her mommy’s hair and we had her try to give baby sister one too by placing it on her mom’s belly.

Bella and Caleb brought a pair of their baby girl’s shoes that match with big sister’s shoes, so we made sure to get a shot that showcased Yamayah with them. This is one of our favorite pictures to capture and we could tell Yamayah is already such a great big sister!

We made sure to get some detail shots of the sonogram photos and we brought a bouquet of flowers with some pink flowers to represent their baby girl’s arrival! We also incorporated some Lillies, Bella’s favorite flower, to represent her motherhood journey.

We found a spot at the arboretum with lots of clover covering the ground and some nice backlight and got some great photos of them sitting down here. At this point of the shoot, Yamayah was starting to get distracted by all the cute little ants crawling on the floor. To grab her attention and get her back into the shoot, we thought it the best time to do a family dance party to her favorite song from the move Sing, Shake it Off! Here is a photo we captured during this moment:

Bella wanted to incorporate a fun activity for their family to do together at the very end of the shoot, painting her belly! We absolutely loved this idea and it was definitely Yamayah’s favorite part of the shoot. They started painting Mom’s belly, slowly starting to paint their jeans, and eventually Dad’s chest too! It was an absolute blast and we got the best results capturing them having fun as a family!

We are eternally grateful to have had this experience with this beautiful family! Getting to know them and being a part of their family’s journey is truly a blessing and why we do what we do.
