Hailey’s Summer Portraits

Hey! Maddy and Logan here. We wanted to share our experience with another Summer Portrait session we did a few weeks ago with Logan’s little sister, Hailey. We had gone back to Woodland, California for a family trip and this session was completely spontaneous but we saw the sunset and we couldn’t resist going to take some photos. These kind of sessions are always enjoyable and typically when we follow our creative intuition like this, the shots end up being fantastic!

Hailey is one of the sweetest human beings to exist- she is caring, always thoughtful, fun, and down-to-earth. Hailey sticks to who she is at her core no matter what, that is what we love about her. She is not afraid to show her goofy side, that definitely helps us during sessions with her! We enjoy capturing people as their true selves, not what the world wants to see but who they want to be seen as.

As for the location, we walked to a neighborhood park in Woodland. There was a set of large cornfields next to the park and it aligned perfectly with the outfit that Hailey chose: a white skirt, denim corset top and cowboy boots. We started off by capturing Hailey in the scene and getting her side profile, the sunset hit the top of the cornfields perfectly:

We also wanted to capture some movement shots that would really make her beautiful skirt flow with the sunset in the background. It was also VERY windy that evening, so we weren’t too worried about it. Cailin, Logan’s other sister, would know (p.s. stay tuned for a special photoshoot we have planned with her). We had her jump into the middle of the cornfields to get a close-up shot, but the corn stalks nearly knocked her out in the process. It resulted in some pretty funny photos that may or may not be going on the family Christmas card this year. Here is Hailey’s movement shot that showcases the breathtaking sunset:

The close-up shots of Hailey are our favorite. They capture the essence of her soft and kind personality. Her hair color stood out in these photos and brought out her striking blue eyes. All of the colors in this photo work together really nicely and Hailey looks beautiful as ever!

And of course, we couldn’t forget some detail shots. We especially wanted to get these shots because Hailey’s outfit was such a vibe…..We wanted to focus on all components of the outfit altogether, but we also wanted to capture the boots and skirt in a shot as well.

Here is Hailey and Cailin at the end of the shoot just before the sun went down! More photoshoots with the Weisz sisters to come :)
