Melisa’s Summer Portraits

Hello everyone, it’s Maddy & Logan! We had a summer portrait mini session the other day with a dear friend and it was one of the best summer sessions yet….Melisa wanted some portraits of herself but she knew she wanted to include her best friend in the whole wide world, her pup Rexx. A little about Melisa, she is a newly licensed special education teacher about to start her first year in her classroom! She is kind, witty and one of the most hardworking people we know.

We started off her shoot by finding this spot near the water, with trees and greenery as part of the backdrop. We got some really dreamy backlit shots at this location! Rexx had his moment too and got to pose with Melisa, although he wasn’t a fan of me suggesting that he have his own “Simba” (yep, from the Lion King) moment. Melisa mentioned he might be scared because he thought she was trying to throw him in the water! Anyway, here’s a picture from this location of Melisa and Rexx (pre-Simba moment of course)!

This next location was hands down the best of the shoot…we found this spot under the bridge along the trail that has a wheat field. Not to mention the golden hour sun was stunning here! Side note, on our way to this spot I found some sunflowers, Melisa’s favorite flower, and picked some for us to use in the shoot! The only drawback about this spot was the high pollen count...definitely recommend taking some Allegra before coming here but it was SO WORTH IT! Just take a look at these gorgeous photos of Melisa:

Here’s Rexx finally getting his “Simba” moment!

The last location was at the park on the grass. Melisa made sure to bring Rexx’s jean jacket and we wanted to get some cute portraits and candid photos of them together! Melisa came prepared with Rexx’s toys although he seemed more interested in all of the new smells at the park. These pictures were some of the cutest we have ever taken! Rexx and Melisa are the best duo, and you can just tell they are best friends by looking at the photos….

We absolutely enjoyed this shoot with Melisa & Rexx and can’t wait for the next opportunity to shoot them again!
